SEEING POPE FRANCIS EVENTS WILL BE MOSTLY FREE

While Pope Francis’ visit tops the things to do during the World Meetings of Families conference coming to Philadelphia Sept. 22-27, there are a number of other events people can take part in — some free and some not.

The World Meeting of Families (WMOF), an International Conference on the Family founded by Saint John Paul II and sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Family in Rome and the Philadelphia Archdiocese, according to the WMOF website, brings together people from all across the world to talk about faith and family.

An anticipated 750,000 to 1 million people are expected to be present for the Festival of Families and even more when the Pope comes to town that weekend, said WMOF Executive Director Donna Crilley Farrell. From conferences to concerts there are a number of events happening that week, some will be totally free, some will require a special ticket and others will require advanced registration, she said.
