Transportation and security agencies aren’t the only organizations that will be affected by the influx of visitors the 2015 World Meeting of Families Congress will bring to Philadelphia this month. Area hospitals also have plans in place to provide healthcare during the historic event.

“We began preparing the moment we knew this was a possibility,” said Mark Ross, The Hospital & Health System Association of Pennsylvania’s regional emergency preparedness manager for the southeastern part of the state.

Excitement around the event increased even more when it was announced last November that Pope Francis would attend part of the festivities. City officials estimate that an additional 1.5 million people will be in the Philadelphia that weekend.
