FROM PAPAL USHER TO USHERING A NEW POPE

In 1979 on an early October afternoon, a 15-year-old Springfield girl took her place as an usher on Logan Circle in Philadelphia for a Mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II, the first reigning pontiff ever to visit the City of Brotherly Love.

“To be there in that incredible crowd and see the charisma of Pope John Paul II. I thought, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Donna Crilley Farrell while addressing students and their parents at her alma mater, Cardinal O’Hara High School in Marple, in early August.
