POPE VISIT TO CLOSE ROADS, BRIDGES; ALTER TRAINS, TROLLEYS AND BUSSES

Those planning on visiting Philadelphia when Pope Francis is in town best lace up a sturdy pair of shoes, because there will be much walking and more waiting.

In a city that isn’t too easy for outsiders to navigate in general, the Pope’s visit is going to make that task even more challenging. From major road and bridge closures, to special mass transit tickets and schedules, those who visit should definitely plan ahead a little, said Mayor Michael Nutter.

People need to be ready “to walk at least a few miles or more,” to see the Pope’s Mass on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Sept. 27, as well as other Pope events.
