LANSDALE >> On a cool evening in mid-August rising high school junior Kerry Silidker, of New Hope, was volunteering at the annual St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church carnival in Lansdale.

She was manning a robotics station at the event with friends, but seemed happy to take a quick break to talk about Pope Francis’ inaugural visit to the United States Sept. 26-27 for the conclusion of the World Meeting of Families conference in Center City Philadelphia.

“I am so excited he’s coming,” she said enthusiastically after explaining she will be attending the much anticipated Papal Mass Sept. 27 with her parents and about 1.5 million others. “I’ve always been a very religious person, so I want to go there to feel enriched in the faith and to be in the presence of one of our great leaders.”
