MARPLE >> Two months ago, Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green, Ky., had a bus and a dream — but nowhere to stay during Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia.

Members had called various churches in the region but all turned them away. Uncertainty loomed as prospects began to dim.

A parishioner’s sister had a friend at a Delaware County synagogue. A call was made with the hope they might get some direction, some ideas on where to go.

They got much more than that.

Thanks to the generosity of Congregation Beth El-Ner Tamid in Broomall, the 56 Kentuckians will have a place to stay, a variety of cooked meals and a schedule of interfaith activities filling out their visit to Pennsylvania.
