MONTGOMERY TWP. >> Just two months until more than a million people are expected to converge on Philadelphia to see Pope Francis’ first trip the United States, Bob Ciaruffoli, the chairman and president of the World Meeting of Families, spoke at a luncheon for the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce on July 22.
The event was one in an occasional series held by the chamber called the CEO Global Executive Briefing Luncheon, where Ciaruffoli spoke about the challenges and surprises of organizing such a large event, from coordinating with different agencies to the logistics of accommodating so many people for the largest events, the Festival of Families and the papal Mass.
The importance of the region to the World Meeting of Families 2015 was one of the points Ciaruffoli made clear in his talk, saying the goals of the congress are to reenergize the church, promote families and also to promote the Greater Philadelphia area as a global destination.
