NORRISTOWN >> Montgomery County commissioners’ Chairman Josh Shapiro will be one of three people to greet Pope Francis when he arrives in Lower Merion on Saturday.
“I am deeply honored to be able to welcome the Holy Father on behalf of the 810,000 residents of Montgomery County,” Shapiro said in a press release. “This is an honor for Montgomery County to serve as the pope’s home away from Rome while he is in Philadelphia.”
Shapiro will be joined by Lower Merion Board of Commissioners President Liz Rogan and Bishop Timothy C. Senior, the rector of St. Charles of Borromeo Seminary.
Shapiro will greet the pope with a framed welcome scroll created by the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board.
