NORRISTOWN HOTEL GIVES GOODWILL BAGS TO PAPAL PILGRIMS

NORRISTOWN >> Visitors staying at the only hotel in Norristown for the papal visit will be greeted with goodwill in the form of a bag of goodies provided by community leaders.

The red and white SEPTA bags are the brainchild of resident Mary Ellen Digregorio, who came up with the idea to welcome out-of-towners staying at America’s Best Value Inn, 830 W. Main St., with a little something to brighten their stay and familiarize them with all the municipality has to offer.

The bag includes SEPTA key lanyards, “You belong in Norristown” flash drives, a Norristown restaurant guide, pamphlets from the Norristown Preservation Society and the Norristown Inside Out Arts program, and information on local landmarks and places of interest, including the Elmwood Park Zoo, Theater Horizon, Riverfront Park, the Columbus Monument and a brochure on the home of Civil War aeronaut Thaddeus Lowe, which sits just across the street from the hotel.

America’s Best proprietor Ken Patel was amenable to Digregorio’s idea and decided to add to the bag of goodwill by throwing in bottled water and bags of chips.
