Three years ago the “World Meeting of Families — Philadelphia 2015” was incorporated as the non-profit organization created to plan a week-long international event hosted by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia that, starting today, will finally become a reality.
It is expected to end with a bang this weekend with a visit from Pope Francis .
Today as many as 15,000 Roman Catholics and people of other religious denominations from more than 150 nations are expected to converge in the City of Brotherly Love , the first U.S. venue for the triennial event founded by Pope John Paul II in 1994 as a way to strengthen the family unit.
