YOUTH CONGRESS GIVES CHILDREN A PLACE TO HANG OUT DURING WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES

For children 6-16 years old, the Youth Congress is the place to be at the World Meeting of Families.

With stations for activities, regular music performances and story tellers throughout the week, that section of the Philadelphia Area Convention Center is a diverse playground.

“We made rosaries, we made bags for homeless people,” said Sarah Mominey, 9, of Spring City. She added that her favorite part was making the bags. “It was fun to decorate the bags, and for the homeless people, it felt good to do it.”

The children were randomly selected and put into small groups to rotate amongst the various activities set up for the Youth Congress. The selection helped children from all over the country interact with each other.
