They brought out all the pomp and circumstance at Independence Hall on Saturday afternoon.
After welcome speeches by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput, Pope Francis gave a speech in front of Independence Hall that touched on the sensitive subject of immigration.
“The words of the past can help us work toward a better future,” Pope Francis said in front of an admiring crowd. “We have to not repeat the errors of the past.”
